PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES


Rock Formation produced the inaugural Big Break (’09) concert at the Queenstown Memorial Hall. Registered bands played to a crowd of 400 and for some, it was their first time on stage.

One month later RockFormation registered bands played for a further three hours on the community stage at the Queenstown Winter Festival Mardi Gras to an estimated crowd of 4000.

MENTORSHIP


Has been provided by New Zealand music greats such as Jason Kerrison, Laughton Kora & Anna Mac. These skilled and accomplished musicians share their experiences whilst providing insight into music industry. They are exceptional role models.

Since 2009 RockFormation has worked with the team at Queenstown WinterFestival to run the community stage on Mardi Gras night. Our calendar of events throughout the year includes working with the Wakatipu High School, Summerdaze Festival, The Gibbston Valley Summer Concert, Gibbston Valley Harvest Festival, Arrowtown Autumn Festival, The Big Break Concert, the Queenstown WinterFestival Mardi Gras, the bi-annual Winter Games, The Youth Booth, Queenstown Jazz Festival, Taste of Queenstown, and working with bands from The Auckland School of Rock, Otago University Contemporary Rock, Cromwell & Wanaka.

From 2009 to date RockFormation has organised hundreds of hours of youth music to be played at festivals & events. Acoustic soloists and bands, playing both covers and original material are encouraged to participate at RockFormation supported events.

EQUIPMENT


The Trust provides the back-line & sound technicians at a variety of events where young musicians perform. RockFormation has raised funding through grants & sponsorships and involvement in fund raising activities, acquiring an extensive collection of guitar amps, bass amps, drum kit & PA. We continue to raise funds to improve equipment & sound capabilities.

WHY ROCKFORMATION


To nurture musicianship, creativity, technical and performance skills. Encourage composition and song writing skills that reflect our unique New Zealand culture. To assist in preparing registered members for the professional music industry.
